The third part of the main criteria is freshness. Is your content current? Are you providing new content for your readers on a regular basis (remember, the search engines don’t care about your store; their only concern is the people searching for information. One way to do that is to add occasional content to help your buyers make good use of your SoyLuscious® soy candles…or to provide advice for related subjects, like decorating or gift-giving.

Now, this is also where the beauty of blogs really shine. All a blog is is a simple content manager. You can create a near constant stream of fresh content  in as few as 100-400 words, and it counts for the search engines. So…find topics that the buyers of your candles would find interesting or helpful, decide on a few categories (like for or five categories), and do two posts per category per month—even the staunchest non-writers find this technique manageable for creating content.

Now, the big thing to be wary for here is what I call the great time sink. Creating a constant stream of fresh content can take a lot of time, if you let it. But it doesn’t have to. Many blogging applications give you the option of post-dating your posts, meaning you can create a month’s worth of posts in a single sitting and set them to post every three or four days.

Pick two topics for each category you have defined, and then write down four or five points you want to make about each topic. When you have a little time, sit down and write. For each post, tell the reader what you’re about to tell them. Tell them, point by point, what you told them you were going to tell them. Then recap by telling them what you told them.

And there you have it: Fresh content, the last of our three basic components of your Candles of Eden SEO strategy. When you’re woking on your Search Engine Optimization, simply keep Relevance, Popularity and Freshness in mind, and you’ll find yourself working your way to the top of the heap. And from here on out, we’ll be discussing specific tactics you can use to boost your efforts in each of these categories.
